So Peace Corps initially nominated me for a Central American country. Naturally, I enrolled in Spanish 201 so they would see that I was being a good girl and preparing myself for my service! However when I received my nomination, they decided that they would rather send me to the Philippines…where they speak Tagalog.
Awesome, I’m not one to become discouraged. Bring it on!
I hit up my Google Translate tab and after successfully learning how to say “hello!” I decided to go for the gold and learn how to say “bye”.
Fuck. I don’t even want to know how to say “good bye.”
Currently, I am enrolled in a Spanish class which will serve me absolutely no good during the next 30 months of my life, and will not help me whatsoever to learn Filipino.
I’ll eventually figure it out.
